Hi, I purchased Warcraft III ROC and TFT recently and have started playing it. The game is awesome, and I started playing it in multiplayer etc. The problem is that I tried watching some replays I downloaded and they are all for v1.17 of TFT. I downloaded the patch, but I can't seem to install it as it says that it cannot authenticate the archive or something like that. I tried re-installing the game, but that does'nt work either!
What do I do?

By far the easiest way to install a patch is to log onto Battle.Net. It will automatically download, update, and restart the game with the new version.
Enjoy, and welcome to the forums!

:D Thanks :D
Well...the thing is I'm on dialup, so its a rather risky business downloading it all in one go. As it is, I only got the patch after many many sessions with GetRight...so I was hoping there was some way to fix this.
Alternatively, is there some software I could use to view replays?

Urgh, dialup. That brings back some nasty memories...
And I'm afraid that really is the only way to get the patch. I've never tried installing it manually myself, so I'm afraid I don't have the first clue how to go about it. And, I'm afraid WCIII itself is the only program that lets you view replays (they're not video files, more a set of instructions for the computer to.. well, replay your game). God luck, and I'm sorry I couldn't be more help.

Hmm...I just tried connecting to Battle.net to give it a shot anyway, and it said could not authenticate game version, install update manually!
Now what do I do?

It would appear that GetRight has got it wrong... or at least marginally messed up. Completely uninstall, then just install the game without using this downloaded patch. Then hookup to Bnet and download straight off there. It'll take a while, but this other method seems to have got it wrong. And don't worry, this'll probably be a one off event. Warcraft three patches have been slowing down for a long time now, less and less are released over time. So you won't have to constantly sit at your computer waiting for the updating to complete. I would say one hour's pain and it's over.
Dude, dial-up is slooooooooow, if you remember those days of dial-up (I'm still on dial-up at home)... I wouldn't recommend anyone to connect to battle.net to patch their game with dial-up. I'd do the same thing using Getright. Anyway, the stand-alone patch is pretty useful if you uninstalled your Warcraft and want to reinstall it again. So... my advice? Go to a friend's place and download it again, get a thumb drive and bring it home. If it really doesn't work... perhaps... your copy isn't authentic? Since the game did say "could not authenticate game version"...
