View Full Version : Fanfiction Forum Contest 3
Alright, here's how it'll go. I think the old threads of FFC were lost, and if not, oh well. Here are the rules, guidelines, etc.
Entrant Rules
-Up to six entrants. First come, first serve. If you want to participate, grab your spot as early as possible.
-Entrants must present a finished piece within 2 weeks (14 days) of the entrants being decided.
-If entrants don't present their pieces, they forfeit their chance to win
-No one forummer may enter twice, nor may they use multiple accounts to clear the tables of competition.
Entry Rules
-Each entrant may only submit ONE entry.
-Entries must are submitted and judged as-they-are, the 'Editing' gift I grant you forummers may not be chosen to improve the quality of the work after it's been submitted
-Entries may be submitted over time in installments, but must be finished by the end of the two week period. If they are not, they will be judged as is, and unfinished states will be frowned upon.
-You MAY submit material BEFORE the deadline. (If you have a trip or something)
-Entry Material Allowed: Unlike the former FFCs, this one allows stuff not based on War3 (which only makes sense, after all, the forum allows stuff that is not necessarily War3). Short stories, novels, poems (epic and short alike), lyrics, scripts, what you will- any form of writing is allowed.
-Follow forms. What I mean by this is if yous submit a Haiku, it MUST be 5/7/5, three lines long, and having to do with nature or change. If you submit a sonnet, depending on which you do (English or Italian) it MUST follow the rhyme scheme. (Semi-rhymes are fine in poems that rhyme and stuff.)
-Entries are to be posted in seperate threads entitled '(name) FFC'.
-Entries must follow all rules in the War3forums rule listings. No obscene use of language (asterisks are not aesthetically pleasant), no gratuitous gore, even with a warning, as it would prevent some of our younger audiences from voting on a full spectrum, and NO, and I repeat NO depiction of sex.
Non-entrant Rules
-Readers of FFC material are free to comment on stuff as with normal material on these boards.
-Voting will occur in this thread starting after the two week marker.
-Entrants may vote, but not for themselves.
-Bad entry material is to be reported via PM to me. I myself might not read every entry, and I will punish people for taking advantage of a competition to write inappropriate material.
-It is discouraged that people might vote without reading all entries. While I have no way of checking this, we'll use an honor system which I'm sure we can all agree to follow.
Um...that's about it I think. So...any questions or slot takings, post'em here!

I am to do a autobiographic story about an event on my life. So I definently can post something in a week or two. Probally about the horrors of my athletic career... is that ok. If so consider me in.

I can try. But I have no idea what it will be about, and I have my doubts that it will even be finished.
That's 2 in. Keep 'em coming, and post whenever.

Questions before I do anything...
Where do we post our work?
What will happen if we win? (I.E What's the prize?)

Is there any limit in length?

In other words, here, in the FFF.

Respect!
Is there any limit in length?
I said anything is fine as long as it follows the structure you choose (so lyrics or stories or free verse stuff can be any length, any style, whatever).

I am willing to submit my position for Bullroarer. I do not believe I would be able to live up to his standards, and I would much rather see his work.

Okay, I've made the decision that my 'entry' will be the Prologue to a story I'm going to be making. It just popped into my head, and I'm very excited about it, I'm sure it will have much of my inspiration in it, though it might not be the best story you've ever read beacuse it will be the first (actually third, but those died) story I've REALLY tried to make.
I'll give you all a hint, it precedes the events of a book and movie series that has been growing in the past few years.

Might be. But then again it might not.

Um...yeah, you CAN give up your position. Sure.
Ok guys, 8 more days. I see Nio's got his entry up already! Good job Nio!

That's technically non-fiction right?
But my opinion doesn't matter. Good luck.

Stuff here doesn't need to be fanfiction, there's a lot of original stuff, so why limit it to fiction at all? I mean poetry isn't fiction unless it's poetry that tells a fictional tale, and poetry is allowed. So...I'm thinking any kind of writing at all is fine. Hence my rule that anything is fine.

Question: What would happen if I put two little stories in one thread and they didn't have much to do with eachother. Would you rate the writing overall? Would you allow it?
I ask this because one of the ideas that I had didn't make it to the writing stage. I'd like to put this up as well.

Your probably going to lose another person unless these webcomics stop being so damn time consuming.

Dude, I know they're fun, but I'm sure you can pull yourself away for an hour.
On second thought, I'm not so sure.
SO- that sucks. Sorry.
Ok, here are the finished entries. Adding to stories is strictly forbidden from this point forward, as is posting new ones. Commenting and such is encouraged as always.

Yeah!
I will close voting this friday.
The winner will have his entry stickied for a month and the title of the thread changed to '*name* Fan Fiction Contest Winner*
Bull: 2
Ogrey: 2
Nio: 1
Hmm, if I could vote I'd vote for Braveliver because his really touched me, but I can't vote fairly now can I.
Keep the votes coming...or don't...but the winner will be decided tomorrow.

Ah crap! ("This landing site doesn't have any gas! I guess we'll have to find another geyser.") I don't have a vote! Oh well... There's always next time. I'll submit my other idea in the next contest.
OK guys, voting's closed.
-sorry BL-
The winners!
A tie! Hurrah! Ogrey Author and Bullroarer, both with 2 votes!
Alright, I'm going to go administer their winnings.
I have a question for y'all. Should I make a new FFC thread come the next FFC, or should I make this a generic FFC thread and sticky it and stuff and make an ongoing cycle of writing and competition?
BraveLiver

Delete this one and make a new thread. That way people won't get confused as much.

I agree. I would definitely like to enter one of the future fanfic contests if I get the chance but it would be best to make a new thread to make sure people who enter know the rules and don't get confused.
Ok, consider your inputs considered. I'm not a fan of deletion but we can let this fall to the bottom.
