*gasp* a necro with a black beard, how could blizz let this slip out?

on a more serious note it looks like a pre-alpha ver of RoC as they used alot of ideas that were later scrapped.

But if you look at the actual gamescreen and not just the portait, he actually has a white beard. Wierd...

Anyone noticed any similarities between the old necromancer portrait and the shaman portrait in the retail?

Looks like the model wasn't completely scrapped, just modified.

I've seen that, and a couple dozen more of those pre-alpha pics on Blizz' site months back. It has a disturbing element of poor quality to it, and a spine-chilling degree of great ideas that were later scrapped. That point in the game's developement was strange indeed, lots sucked, and still parts of it were more revolutionary than what they ended up with in store shelves...

I think what's really cool about the old WC III was the fact that it wasn't going to be much of a RTS. It was mostly ten or twenty units, and basically do your thing with those units. I think it would've been a very interesting departure from the whole RTS thing. I'd always felt that after Starcraft and Diablo, Blizzard is not as revolutionary or even innovative as it once was.

There comes a time in every game company when they find a comfort zone and stay there. For id that comfort zone was FPS after FPS (the endless dooms and quakes). For Nintendo there are Mario, Zelda, and the occasional Kirby and Samus. And for Blizzard it's RTSs and RPGs, though not necessarily at the same time.

The only companies that are still innovating and whatnot are those who have yet to find that comfort zone where they can get the most amount of money out of the least amount of thinking.

I still remember when the Undead used mana&corpses as ONLY resource...

Also, I remember the old "Corpse Explosions" spell on the Necromancers...

KCG should know what it looks like.

Hey! KCG's got a naga pic again! And trust me, if those models, skins etc. were what they used in the game, what was released (in the game) would be considered 'cool' 'awsome' and any word synonamous with 'rad'.
