Recently, my guildies and I decided that we were very pissed at the Alliance for ganking us in Tarren Mill/Booty Bay/Gadgetzan. Therefore, I jumped at the suggestion from one of my guildies to sneak into the heart of Alliance lands and gank some level 5-20s. Our group of Rogue(me), 2 Hunters, and a shaman went to the Kharnos then to Wetlands, and killed 36 total Alliance before calling it a day.
On the way, I saw Dragonmaw Orcs, and I was pretty suprised that they were hostile to me.
Anyone can answer why they are still hostile to the Horde? I always thought that they escaped along with Thrall when the camps were liberated and the only clan to remain were the Blackrock(Now apparantly also the Frostwolves).
So has blizzard offer any explanations or is it just that they are liek the Blackrock and refuse to cooperate with the new horde?

Also, I know that Zuluhed, their chieftein during the second war, pledged allegiance to Rend and Maim. But that hardly explains why they did not follow Thrall. In fact, I do not think Zuluhed is even alive to influence their policies. Anything blizzard released about this?

I always thought that the Dragonmaw got totally wiped out in the 2nd war, and that the "remains" survived like renegades, just like the Blackrock' orcs...

The Dragonmaw is gone, they lose all their dragons/dragon making capablities after DoD and when the Dark Portal was destroyed...(I think/I'm pretty sure) :y-curtain
Plus they got whacked at Grim Batol...
Romanov, sorry I never did that WC2 terrain that you wanted *sheepish grin* I have no comp to work on...so did you get KR to do it or someone else?

Hello? I just said I saw Dragonmaw orcs. Do you know what you are talking about?

Yes he does. The Dragonmaw clan as an actual force is dead. Of course there will be stubborn orcs who still call themselves Dragonmaws, but they can't really do a whole lot now can they?

I know that the remenents are a minor force. But my question is why are the remements of the clan still there?
The remments of the Burning Blade went with Thrall, Bleeding Hollow, Warsong, Frostwolves, etc.

It's obvious. Blizzard hates killing off any sort of race, faction, and even has trouble letting individuals die. They are there because they haven't left yet, simple as that. Also keep in mind that the Dragonmaw lasted longer than almost every other clan, they probably stayed behind because of a pride thing.

Thats a really hypothetical answer.

"Lands of Conflict" contains information on the Dragonmaw Clan, but I didn't bring it home with me during winter break. If I remember correctly, though, there were survivors of the Alliance's assault on Grim Batol, and they kept the clan alive. They're similar to the Blackrock Clan, however, in that they didn't join Thrall's new Horde and apparently still cling to their "old", Warcraft I & II ways. They might still have some red dragons in their service, although I'm not entirely certain of this, and I think I heard somebody mention somewhere that the Dragonmaw are led by Nekros' son.
In "Warcraft Adventures", I believe the Dragonmaw Clan was one of the clans that joined Thrall, but, because "Warcraft Adventures" was canceled, that should no longer be considered as canon.

Yeah, I remembered the old Warcraft Adventures storyline.
Thx Rowan for clearing that up.

actually, as alliance you get quests to destroy their warengines and assasinate their leaders, so Menethil are sort of concerned too.
Zuluhed pledged allegiance to the Blackrock clan. the remnants honour it. simple as that =)

Dragonmaws were never captured and placed in interment camps. Thrall's horde is composed of Grom's warsong, frostwolves from alterac (and apparently some stayed behind in their home or maybe returned), and those freed from the interment camps which were the captured clasn such as bleeding hollow, shattered hand, etc....These dragonmaws are whats left after alexstrasza had her way with the orcs. few are left.
as for blackocks in wow i assume they were the ones that never crossed the sea and fought the second war and were strays that were never captured. or possibly the same ones from alterac that were in warcraft 3 that refused to follow thrall. im not sure though. does anyone have a definite answer?
ah feels good to post again :)

King and Flinn Gaidin:
Dragonmaw population: Ok lets do the math
Wetlands Population: 25,000(70%nonorc, 30% Dragonmaw)
25,000*.3= 7,500 PISSED off orcs.(more than the physical army in Dalaran to NOTE)
That is truly not "the Dragonmaw clan as an actual force is dead" nor is it "The Dragonmaw is gone".
Rudy:
They WERE in fact placed off in internment camps. ROC manual under the section Day of the Dragon.

Now where did you get such numbers?

I'd assume he got it from one of the RPG books, but I cannot be certain.
It is a fact, however, that the Dragonmaw are still fairly at large in the Wetlands. Not nearly a rivaling force for any race, but able to hold their own.

oh duh thats right. dragonmaws were rounded up after alexstrsza got her way with them. guess these are the ones that avoided capture. so you may have some old dragonmaws with the rebel blackrocks or with Thrall in Durotar.
