Finally the day has come, WoW is out.

Who's all got it? I plan to buy it this weekend if everyone isn't sold out.

Eastern has NO good server names. We are, to say the least, not amused.

Ok, they do have Medivh. That's cool, I guess. And Zul'jin, if you're into that.

Well there's Elune, Doomhammer, Blackhand, Arthas.... all the biggies. But no aspects, now that's disapointing!

But...... I'M IN!!! I know it's frowned upon by blizzard, but I'm addicted...it's thier fault, really. I bought an american veriosn over eBay and had the seller email me the Key so I could create an account and use the beta client.... Not only that, I now live in newzealand.... technically.

Disk - Yes, evidently. Gave in to the fans who just started writing it that way.

Cerebral - There is, actually, a Deathwing server, but it's PVP. All the PVPs and RPGs have cool names.

There are few current heroes used for servers. Most of them are either dead or otherwise unaccounted for.

Yup. =) You gotta go with what ya' konw! Out of the four characters I'll use, two are rogues. One human and one forsaken.

At the moment I'm 'testing the water' with my Night Elf Druid and, if his server is playing up, a Troll Shaman.

I figured things would be a bit hairy in the first few days... and they're certainly that! So I'm saving more 'Rogueing' untill the servers find their feet.

I combined the two. I found that I enjoyed playing with a human paladin more than I did with an orc shaman... While I would pick up that role if I am to get the game (still not certain upon my mind thanks to monthly fees) I probably will be making a paladin my main. Of course with that infamous trademark shaman on the side.

I gotta go with KCG and Kalos on this one. Either mixing it up, or blasting from behind the meatshields does it for me.

That may explain why I liked my Forsaken Warlock so much...

When they finally implement hero classes, you just HAVE to become a farseer. Farseer Kalos, on a white wolf. Man, that would own. :smug: Chain Forked Lightning of Death...

It seems that the first day game sales are amazing... around 250.000 copies, and many stores have already been "sacked" by the Wow players
Even Mike Morhaime (The Blizzard Boss) didnt expected a so great success...

This makes me happy...

Go and fund my favorite company! So I can have Starcraf2 sooner (evil laugh)

Just joking :D...Im am REALLY happy!

Good job Blizzard! Another uber-success blockbuster!

Another great success for Blizzard, and another step closer to more great games that I can actually play. I couldn't be happier!

This is my hope:

As any avid PC gamer will know, our selection is becoming more and more crowded with pay to play games. MMOs are the most popular genre in exclusively PC games, which makes it totally crappy for prospective gamers like us.

So MY hope is that World of Warcraft establishes such a fanbase that it blows all competition out of the water. Because of the nature of MMOs, you're not likely to play two at once, because you're paying for both and likely only using one extensively. So, as a result, people are so devoted to World (and why not, because it's a VERY good game by all accounts, not just diehard fans or hardcore gamers like it) that most subsequent MMOs fail. Maybe they have some prelimiary success but that dies off shortly after the release. It will only take a few for other game companies to realize that they can't compete with World of Warcraft.

As a result, the entire PC gaming industry shifts back to regular RPGs and other such games, and World of Warcraft becomes the last true MMO ever.

Wishful thinking, maybe, but it's so hard to shop for PC games nowadays, and I'd really like that to change.

Yeah, I want more games like Diablo and Diablo II. One of my dreams was always to play Diablo 1 with Diablo II-like enhancements, such as wider selection of items and enemies. However I like Diablo I's spells system more, in that all classes have access to the same spells.

If I knew enough about messing with Diablo II data I would already have made the labyrinth.

I own Diablo1, but I took it after Diablo2...

I would play it, but the lack of a "Running stance" and "Mana Regeneration" like Diablo2, really blocks me...

I've often found once I get going that I find more than enough gold and mana potions to keep me going. Playing multiplayer mode by yourself makes the game more enjoyable IMO.

What do you mean?? Multiplayer by yourself?

Purplebeard
25-11-04, 09:54 AM
Indeed. In diablo, you can just start a multiplayer game with you as the only player. Unfortunately, most quests only appear in single player games, so you'll miss out on most of them.

Thank you! I will wield this spell for great justice! No mispellings shall happen while I'm still around. The farseer will be one of my biggest goals true, but I just have so much fun playing as that pally. Something addictive about humans, night elf areas just suck in comparison for me.

Unfortunately, Vivendi fired the whole Blizzard North management team, and hence there are no old fellas to make Diablo 3.

But at the moment I'm interested in the story developments in World of Warcraft. Since I'm from Europe, I can't play the game myself :angry2: and I have to rely on North American people for information. Could people enlighten me about the most important things to know from the Dwarven perspective?

Sure.

With all the money that Wow will bring to them, they can do anything!! :bigclap:

And I hope this:

More $$$ = More men at work = Faster Game development

Nephalim
26-11-04, 10:24 AM
Legally, of course they can. Blizzard North didn't just waste away the moment Roper & co left and they apparently have had something in the works for a while.

But they shouldn't make a Diablo 3 and I doubt they will. Diablo is over, the story is finished. Any additions would render the first two games pointless.

KrewL RaiN
26-11-04, 11:10 AM
Yeah they cant rez Big D again, its just i keep thinking like Azmodan and Belial are the last 2 big evil guys left wagging war in hell (yes lesser evils but with the 3 gone and the other lessers dead 2, they aint so lesser anymore). What if they want to arise to the mortal plain and try to take it over. The destruction of the World Stone will also make things intreseting for we dunno what happend to Santuary or how it changed when it was destroyed

WarDragon
26-11-04, 11:19 AM
About the Dwarves; the two most important things that I'm aware of are their newfound obsession with their origins, and that Brann is still alive.

The Dwarves were originally creatures of living stone, forged by the Titans to aid in shaping the world. However, this "creation matrix" was unstable, and degenerated into two separate species; the Dwarves, and the Troggs. The former were judged by the Titans as worthy, and the latter sealed away.

As for Brann, all I know is that there's a quest to rescue him.

Nephalim
26-11-04, 11:30 AM
Lands of Conflict, the latest RPG book, was actually told from Brann's point of view.

KR - Honestly, I think that revisiting Sanctuary ever again will undermine some of the themes they were trying to get at with the ending. I don't think Blizzard ever intended to go back to it, in sequel form, anyway, and if they did, it would seem contrived. I think we'd all be happier if they just left it alone forever, and made something entirely new.

Kingcrazygenius
26-11-04, 12:51 PM
I personally don't want another Diablo game. But I really liked the system of the game, with the pointing and clicking and monster system and stat system and all that rot.

On the other hand, Tyrael would make an interesting boss monster.

xShadowleavesx
26-11-04, 02:09 PM
Actually, i thought that the end of LoD left alot of room for the sequel. While the Prime Evils may be dead, just think of what the destruction of the Worldstone entails... there's alot they can still do with Diablo. I could care less if they do anything though.

also noteworthy for the dwarves is that the conflict with the Dark Irons seem to be escalating. also, Moira Bronzebeard, the daughter of king Magni, has been princessnapped by the DI's. though, possibly she's there voluntarily, as she seems to be in love with the Dark Iron emperor and even carrying his child...

Ilidan - Isn't the Cenarion Circle an RPG server? What's that like? I was considering trying it out but I'm afraid I'll get tired of it eventually and don't want to get attached to a character on a server I hate playing on.

I doubt you would need a new computer to play this. Itcan run on a really old and slow computer. A geforce II, 800mhz? Most computers in 2001 had these old things in them. My computer, well lets just say it's going to to be good fro at least two years now. The athlon 64 series is far faster than the xp branch.

You must hate the new pentium four's then. 3.6 ghz, or 3,600 mhz. Still 800 is pretty weak for today's standard. Doom 3 for example needs 1,800 mhz to run at minimum, with no current upper limit. And it requires at least a geforce 4 to be playable. WoW is very little in demand compared with some of these new games out there.

Dude, you misunderstood me.

I am getting a new computer quite soon as a graduation present. My current comp. has some problems, but can play doom III on a good day. Why would I bother going throught the lengthy process of installing it on a comp. riddled with problems when in less than a month I will install it on a brand new, virgin, 24-7, 98%* gaming computer?
