I personally don't mind the muskets in WoW, but if it turns into more, I'd be pissed. Thoughts, people?

As long as they dont become futuristic with machine guns and rocket launchers, Im fine with the small muskets and blunderbusses.

I'm not hyped, it's just I don't want to see a gang of Tauren Hunters with pistols beating up a Gnome gang-style.

I don't know if you played in the Stress Test or some sort of Beta, but having a gun isn't all too great in terms of damage dealing. In addition to the low damage, there is a low attack speed, and also you have ammo. Ammo can have additional damage, but it still runs out. To have more ammo, you can get ammo pouches, which hold more ammo, and I believe add to attack speed. Though, that also takes away a maximum of ten item spaces, since only ammo can go in an ammo pouch.
EDIT: Everyone beats up Gnomes. It's really funny. So many people hate gnomes in WoW...

I think I read guns were great in damage dealing.

Perhaps you read, but I actually played. Also, the damage per second with the guns is much lower than that of melee weapons of the same level requirement.
Also:Guns (http://www.thottbot.com/index.cgi?f=w;skill=Gun;name=;loc=Ranged;minl=;max l=;mind=;maxd=;mins=;maxs=;spellboost=;sort=dps;so rt2=name)
The melee weapons have much higher DPS.

Muskets and other non good range but good damage thing is fine. Anything more is pathetic. It should be limited to very very old style guns.

Guns just don't belong in warcraft. Canons, and bombs (mines) maybe but that's the extent of it.

I agree that it should be old guns... but... i really want to see an ambush by dual wielding rouges with handguns! Like:
A silent night in a contested territory:
Band of players: Hmm, not much happening here.
*SUDDENLY* a shout of "Open Fire!" is heard, as five Rouges come out of stealth and use pistols, gangsta-style.
*shoot* *yell* *kapow* *scream* *explode*
*No more*
Ahh well, might not be a good idea... But i just want a rouge with dual pistols !

I want there to be guns, just so I can kick the asses of those who use them with my undead priestess.

If you were to estimate what year WC could logiclly take place (ignoring all of the gnomish/goblin/drawven technology) is mid 1400's to early 1600's.
Here's a little weapons history:
Artillery 1050 China
Tank 1125 China
Smoke Grenades 1128 Arabia
Teargas Grenades 1161 China
Rocket (using solid fuel) 1180 China
Land Mines 1277 China (used by mongol invaders)
Cannons, Guns 1304 Arabia
Steel Crossbow 1325 England
Longbow 1330 Wales
Shipboard Guns 1350 Europe
Hand Guns 1400 Europe
Biological Warfare 1400 Central Asia*(catapulting plague victims over city walls*by the Tartars)
Seige Guns 1435 Ottoman
Pistol 1540 Italy
Musket 1565 Europe
So as you can see, it makes perfect sense to have any form of gunpowered weapons. Ofcourse, machineguns were not invented until around mid 1800s (well I actually have no idea wether this is true or not... i'm only guessing from watching a Ruroni Kenshin episode....).
It's dissapointing that guns aren't that great though... I was expecting them to have high reload times in exchange for high damage.

Extra damage per second can be added with ammo. Using good ammo, which can cost a lot and is limited, can seemingly make the gun better than melee weapons (depending on weapons used) until the ammo runs out.
Ammo (http://www.thottbot.com/?f=w&skill=Bullet&name=&loc=Projectile&minl=&maxl=&mind=&maxd=&mins=&maxs=&spellboost=)
I didn't actually use a gun though... Paladins are the only class at the moment that cannot use ranged weapons.

that would be suite. i want an rogue w/ pistols too. and a flamethrower. and a bazooka for long range ambushes. actually, low tech would be pretty cool.

No, that's GTA. This is Warcraft.

Err... actually... the only thing is that there are no pistols. If Warcraft existed, they'd not know how to fit all the components into something that small, nor even have the knowledge of how to make something smaller like that. Then, there actually is a flamethrowing device, called a Goblin Dragon Gun (http://www.thottbot.com/?i=14612). In addition, rather than rocket launchers, you get mortars.
Also, there is the one, the only GNOMISH BATTLE CHICKEN! (http://www.thottbot.com/?i=13950)

I think that the emphasis placed on guns should be on par with that placed on bows and crossbows; definately not exceeding it.

Yeah, but Guns should be a little different from Bows... Else there is not much sense in having it in the game. I think they should be more powerfull, but long reload times, as already proposed. A thing like that, so there is reasons for using guns, other than the "coolness" of it.

I love the current gun system. Its all old crap muskets reloaded with every shot. I think it fits fine right now.

Muskets and blunderbusses are good for the "normal" races...I wouldn't throw a fit seeing a gnome shoot something a little more hi-tech....but that's getting close to the line.

Yeah, that's another thing. I don't like how the Gnomes are turning Warcraft into modern day. Eventually, the would. I've seen a lift with black and yellow stripes on the edge, and they even have that bullet train thing.

Great, now perhaps Gnomes will inspire real life inventions.
Seriously, though what the hell is blizzard thinking ?
I think their anly purpose in life is to annoy lore-junkies while robbing them of their money, we still love them ofcourse!!

Warcraft is a world of fantasy, but who said it can not evolve. One year in the real world can be like a few hundred years in Warcraft world (yeah..Bullsh*t :g wink: ). As there is obviously science and technology in the first Warcraft game, then we certainly can have guns, and lots of guns in WoW. As a matter of fact, we already played the futuristic Warcraft.......Starcraft (yeah more Bullsh*t :g wink: )
Yeah guns in Wow is ok with me, but Wow has dinosaurs.??? thats disturbing. :g-sick:

Yeah, well, if we wanted futurstic, we'd PLAY Starcraft. :P I've actually never played Starcraft, and there's a very good reason for that, I like my medieval.
Don't think of them as dinosaurs. Think of them as rideable reptiles! :bigclap:

Guns will make Warcraft alot hi-tech its more of gothic and swords and shields type of world but, some amount of tech was OK as 1. It was not 100% perfect kinda machinery like alot of smoke comming out, rattling noises, inaccurate guns (muskets and blunderbusses ) cannons, and explosives that are not very well controlled....
Basically, what stuff our Medival world had and most importantly machinery esp. a bit high-tech from general ones would fit in hands of races that develop them
Gnomes, Goblins, Dwarwes can have guns, weird machinery, explosives sort of stuff but not tauren having machine-guns and the sorts.

Sure, but in real life, you had a better chance of shooting off the wings of a fly at 50 yards with a pair of Uzi's than hit your opponet in a dual with the older pistols.
to see a gang of Tauren Hunters with pistols beating up a Gnome gang-style.
Blame Bullroarer..

Guns are actually low tech... read my previous post; that was my whole point in posting it. Guns have been around longer than people realise. They weren't used in the 1100-1400's b/c either:
A) They were too expensive to import from China
B) They had a high inaccuracy, explosion, and lemon rate.
Longbows did the job in the 1100-1400s.

There isn't any 'heros' in WoW. It's an MMORPG, it's NOTHING like TFT.
Guns are cool … I hope I can equip them
Both hand then proceed to bust da cap on

U r right Ralf, am sure Wow will have a gun that function like a Plasma gun. Ofcourse it will not be named Plasma-gun. But it will be called a Frost-gun? Blue-Flaming-gun? or watever, just something magical is guess. :g wink: . and instead of using Neoplasmic ammunitions, it will be powered by crystals or some other magical stones. :g wink:
Yeah bullsh!t. :g laugh:
