View Full Version : Not attractive!

Basically, what are things that people do in the name of fashion that you dislike?
They can be trendy, they can be longstanding - whatever.
Men:
long hair (Yeah, great. You're different.)
hats at an angle (Again, who cares?)
exceedingly baggy pants that are worn halfway down the upper leg (I really don't want to see somebody's butt or underwear)
"Bad boy" attitude (no, they're a spoiled rich kid. They aren't ghetto.)
tattoos (Oh JOY!)
Women:
pleated mini-skirts (No.)
ditzy-ness (Especially in math class. "I don't get it. heh heh" If a woman has intelligence, they should SHOW IT)
ugg boots (Especially where I live in San Diego. It's sunny all of the time. Put them away)
spinelessness (They should make their own decisions and opinions.)
low-rise jeans (Most women don't have the figure for them)
low-cut shirts (it's much more attractive when there's a measure of imagination involved)
overuse of makeup (no more than a tad. After that, they start looking like clowns)
tattoo on the small of the back (Good job, they've expressed individualism in the exact same way multitudes of others have! Besides, it looks like a freaky patch of hair.)
bared midriff (doesn't that slab o' flab look HOT!?!? Very few girls have the figure to pull this off successfully)
The most attractive girl I know is always very modest with her clothing and makeup, and that's far better looking than the millions of girls at school with pleated skirts, enough makeup to turn them from pretty to hideous, and shirts that expose as much of their breasts as they can get away with.
Edit: Yes, I know - I do make some unfair assumptions, although I put them aside. I've become friends with people that do these, but it doesn't mean I find that attractive.

The makup thing is relly stupid in my opinion, like you said Warpblade, they look like clowns. I also see it as a sence of insecurity with there look and so they wear this mask.....one that looks like a clown face :y-mm:
I think women have more pressure on looks then men thanks to the media

Nah, what he said was fairly incomprehensible.
I dont dislike people basing myself on their look.
Let's translate.
I like people basing myself on their look.
What? :y-mm:
Perhaps you mean, "I don't like people forming their opinion of me based off of my look."
I'll assume that.
Here's my simple rebuttal: if somebody walks into a bank with a ski mask and a rifle, are you going to form an opinion based on how they look? I think so.
Or if you meant, "I like people forming their opinion of me based off of my look."
Go ahead. *shrug*

Definitely true. As my poli sci professor said:
Women's beauty in this culture is defined by 13-year old 6-foot tall, 100-pound... pubescent mutants.
Are any of you ladies 13 years old, 6 feet tall, and weigh 100 pounds? No? Well, you put the UG in UGLY! Cover up your monstrosity of a face! If you don't buy the latest products, your husband will divorce you, your kids will disown you, and your dog will run away with tail between legs whenever you call it.
On the other hand, you can buy these makeups and wear these clothes, and you'll be beautiful!

how exactly is not being decisive fashion related? how is it woman related? bitterness?
what i don't like is when people act like fashion police. reading this thread is like what i imagine that straight eye for a *** man show is like:
Warpblade: like oh my god! vertical stripes are so out this year, shame on you, you bad bad man. horizontal stripes bring out your zestiness
Ralf: make the bad man stop, Warpblade. shield my eyes from those outdated Nike fulltop pumps. ahhhhhh!
Warpblade: hold me, Ralf! i can't bare being with someone who doesn't care what is trendy this year!

I have to disagree. Long hair on men look awesome. I should know (http://www.geocities.com/coolman3d2/mrran.jpg)

Again, people are missing the main point - which is to say fashions you don't find attractive. I put little comments that may describe a select stereotype and/or my immediate thoughts, but the post wasn't intended to be a "I HATE TRENDINESS" or "I LOVE TRENDINESS" screed.
Since people are getting hung up about this, I'll say this again: If somebody bursts into a store/bank with weaponry and a ski mask, you are going to form an immediate opinion. Most likely, you'll think it's a robbery.
The cutesy idiocy in women is something that is encouraged in American culture. Don't ask me for an explanation, because I don't see the point. As for being bitter, I don't see how bitterness comes into play. I know a lot of intelligent people, but there are far more girls hiding their intelligence than guys.
Let's get back on the original topic.

13 years old? Six feet tall? 100 lbs?
I don't want some flat pair of stilts, yuck

I'd think that it was someones twisted sense of humor, since nothing like that ever happens where I live. However, I see your point.
I dislike the "out of bed" hairstyle. Oh my god. And now they have those gels that gives an "out of bed" effect. Idiots, spending loads on cash to get a look I can get the same effect after three seconds of headbanging.

The media seems to controll us all by programming these looks into our heads. Eg you see the same look everywere so people think thats the way you should look like. On TV, in magazines, in movies, the billbords you see on the highway. Both men and women are effected by it all. Seems no oine has a will of there own these days. Its subliminal programing

I like my long hair. It is confortable and is too heavy to stick off at a angle beyond combing.
One of the funny things about girl tatoos it the ones I talk to say they got them at the small of the back to "be different". Congrats, you are "different" like every other college girl I know.

don't dodge the question. what does indecisiveness have to do with woman? and what does it have to do with fashion? bigot.

I answered the question.
You read my posts.
This is about what isn't attractive. Did I ever say it applies to each individual? No.
And yes, it's fashionable. I've seen the "What do I know - I'm just a girl" attitude in far too many and it annoys me. I guess I'm a bigot because I'm annoyed that girls pretend to act spineless, even when they could form opinions.
Men are taught to be decisive and confident. In a lot of cases, women aren't.
I suppose next I'll say I like to see self-esteem in girls and it will be interpreted as mysogeny.

Only date girls who can easily confuse their IQ and breast size.
</typicalmanmoment>
What if they're both really small?
I used to have long hair, as a man. It's not too bad, besides the thirty minute showers, and like the extra few pounds associated (slight exaggeration). Either way, I made a deal with the track team that if they won all three (freshman, sophomore, varsity) conferences, then I'd get it cut. We won all three conferences for the first time in, I think it was over ten years. Now that's what I call inspiration.
Actually, I was going to get it cut either way, but don't tell them that.

Are you my long lost brother, GDK? I've said that exact "heroically posing in the wind" comment lots of times myself.
Since people are getting hung up about this, I'll say this again: If somebody bursts into a store/bank with weaponry and a ski mask, you are going to form an immediate opinion. Most likely, you'll think it's a robbery.
Yes, but this has nothing to do with fashion. If someone bursts into a bank wearing a ski mask and holding a gun, you don't think: "Holy crap, what a fashion faux pas!" There's a big difference between negatively judging someone for being decked out to commit a felony, and negatively judging them just because you dislike their style.
That being said, I agree that I dislike things like baggy, low-worn pants, etc. It seems stupid to me. But about this:
low-rise jeans (Most women don't have the figure for them)
bared midriff (doesn't that slab o' flab look HOT!?!? Very few girls have the figure to pull this off successfully)
Aren't you pretty much just saying: "Only girls that conform to a stereotypical idea of a nigh-unattainable physical appearance should be able to dress how they want"? If a girl's figure is so important, does her "cutesy ditziness" really matter that much? Maybe what would really be good would be to have girls who think neither that they have to act stupid, nor that they have to have an "ideal" figure, in order to be attractive.
13 years old? Six feet tall? 100 lbs?
See, at first I thought it meant that 13 year old, 100 pound, 6 foot tall boys were deciding what the perfect girl looked like. But then it sounded like it was the girls that were 6 feet tall, etc... Considering that average height for a man is 5'6, 6 foot tall women being "ideal" doesn't sound right at all.

Last time I checked there was no look that requires holding a rifle and robbing banks.
And even then we would judge that peson on her actions, not on how cute was her mask.

I disagree.
People control themself. It's a difficult task which are often to much for people to handle, so they turn to the media for help. However saying that the media is controlling people is a lie. It's a bad excuse for people who won't take responsibility for their own action.
It's not the medias fault, it's your own fault. Grow up and stop blaming everyone else.

I distinctly remember reading that the average height of a man is 5'9". If it is 5'6" then I'm a good 8-9 inches above average.
