Why can't we like things anymore? [FI]

It seems like as soon as someone opens their mouth (or puts their fingers on a keyboard) about a new interest or hobby of theirs, someone instantly comes over and says that's stupid. This in itself isn't bad, but the atmosphere suddenly shifts in such a way in that you can't do anything but agree with the naysayer, lest you also be attacked.

I noticed it in one of those video game threads, a few people said they liked Zelda games, then some guy comes along and basically says "you like zelda? you suck". From there you couldn't like Zelda in that thread, otherwise everyone would think you suck. So far the only thing I've seen that hasn't been attacked is Transformers.

I don't know, it just seems like being cynical towards everything and everyone is like the only way you can save face anymore. If you dare say you like something, someone will just pounce you, and then the general population will agree because they don't want to be pounced of course.

Is this all in my head or something, or is it real, and if so, why?

It's real. I got jumped on because I dislike the Warden. Why? People are A) bored and B) mean-spirited. There's an old proverb that says: "Idle hands are the devil's workshop." When people have nothing better to do, they pick on other people. Oh well.
