Well. I have no sound. I had it fine this morning, and then I left for work. I came back, downloaded a little video (no, not porn, pervert!). I heard nothing, so, I thought "Maybe it's just corrupted." So I tried another video. And then songs. Nothing. Well, I pulled out my computer from its refuge. The only loose cord back there was the headset (microphone and headphone cords, headphone not attached). So I reinstalled the sound. Worked fine. Worked well, actually. I played some DII, left for dinner, and came back. I turned back on my monitor and speakers, and resumed playing my current playlist of legally aquired songs. It worked. Then I tried to play DII at the same time. No sound for either. Closed DII. Sound came back on. Thought I'd try a different media player, so I used Windows Media Player. That always worked with DII. Did the same thing, no sound. No sound when I closed DII. So I tried HaloPC. Well, I got in a game, I could hear my footsteps, and the gunshots of other people. Not my own. Finished the game (took first place, I may add), closed it. Now no sound works. I've not tried to see if that small portion of sound from HaloPC works again, but that's worthless in terms of listening to music. Unless you consider other people shooting and the sound of your footsteps to be good music.

Sorry for the length, but I thought detail might help. In addition to that, the video I downloaded was from Bungie, creators of Halo. It's bad for sales if you put viruses in your stuff, so I doubt it's from that.

Oh yeah, by the way, anyone have suggestions? I'm going to re-reinstall the sound, but seeing as to what it did here, that may only be a temporary fix.

EDIT: Restarting didn't work either

EDIT II: ...I just fixed it... at a cost, which I will explain now

I've got Soundblaster Audigy 2. It's got effects on them. No effects means sound works. And then the opposite. Need get edit in before 15 minute mark. Media player is Creative MediaSource. EAX console is what gives the effects. Now that I think back to it, this happened when I first installed it too. Except, I don't know why it happened this morning if it crashed every time you open it since March. Anyone know how to fix it, such that I still get those effects?

EDIT III: NOT ANOTHER EDIT! Some of the effects work... others don't. Mainly the ones that change stuff don't work. Like adjusting pitches and stuff, those don't work. At least I think it's pitches. By the way, I thought I was 10 minutes ahead, so I have edit time.
