Here's the rundown. PR is a mod of SC:BW that will run on the TFT engine. It will not cost any money and it will be exactly the same as SC:BW, down to the armor system, attack types, add-ons, shields, everything. You will be required to have the SC and SC:BW cds to install the game (for soundfiles) and you will need the latest version of WC3:TFT to run it. There will be no single player campaign.
So far many unit models have been completed, such as the marine, scv, wraith, battlecruiser, infested terran, devourerer, overlord, hydralisk, ultralisk, infested terran, zealot, scout, carrier and dark templar. Also many building models have been done such as the hatchery, pylon, gateway, nexus, command center and factory.
All these models can be seen at the gallery:

In addition the mod will have its own campaign editor, and a program that can convert old SC maps to PR maps- amazing, huh?
I personally do not believe PR will be shut down by Blizzard due to the fact that it is free, does not deviate at all from the plot or change the game, and requires four of their games to play.
If you want to join the team, post your work at their fan creations forums

Looks nice... but no single player :(
There's at least a skirmish mode?
Otherwise it would be REALLY difficult to play it on B.net...

Oh good they have now finished the models for a few units and buildings. Sounds to me like 0.01% of the project is done. By the time the Starcraft mod is playable, Blizzard may already have release Starcraft 3. Not trying to disappoint anyone, but no matter how much i like to play the mod, i cant help be pessimistic. :g vsad:

The PR team has a contest for designing a hybrid unit, the best unit will be put into the game as a secret unit.

Two new models: the Scourge (http://revolution.wc3campaigns.com/gallery.php?action=view&id=31) and the Ghost (http://revolution.wc3campaigns.com/gallery.php?action=view&id=30)

Good points about PR: They put in a lot of quality.
Bad things: They are way too slow. In fact somebody already made a WC3 map for SC.
It has a few bugs, and a couple missing units, but maybe PR can beg so that they can have the models. Thread(this forum) (http://war3forum.worldofwar.net/showthread.php?t=28881)

A couple? Dude...
Yeah, we need to edit Orderstrings, else PR is f*cked...
Or they have to be amazing triggermen... which they already are... :y-thumbsu

Recently Blizzard officially "Killed" a C&c Generals mod based on Starcraft...
This project may share the same destiny...

They'll have more of an objection to a C&C mod (it's not a Blizzard game) than to another Blizzard game.
In addition, it requires both Starcraft and Brood War CDs to install, on top of Warcraft 3 and Frozen Throne.
And I've been aware of this project ever since their models were boxy pieces of junk.

As you can see in the screen shot, more appears to be done than is shown in the gallery, starport, missle turret, interceptor, etc. Although it looks exactly the same. If you as me they should have gotten the shot from a different angle, one you couldn't do in SC to show the difference.

of course, everyone misses the simple idea that it would be easier, faster and better, if you just played starcraft instead.

It's cheaper to build stairs than to pay for an elevator to be contructed in skyscraper. It's also easier to not bother going into work again, and live off the unemployment benifits. Your point?

No sir, it is you who miss the point. With this mod, we get all the fun of StarCraft, plus the marvelous improvements of TFT's engine (most notably, SUBGROUPS! Or the ability to select three Science Vessels, click Irradiate, and have only one of them cast it!). In some cases, even the models they've posted on their site are (IMHO) superior to the original StarCraft versions.

the point is that the people whining about starcraft being better could go play starcraft right now, rather then wait for a mod that will hopefully be similar in quality to the game that is sitting in a case beside them while they type these posts.

Quoted for emphasis. Your answers in there. This has the potential to be better than starcraft, which higher graphical detain, in a full three dimentional enviroment. Besides, imitation is a form of flattery, these people like the game so much they are willing to recreate it on a newer and more advanced engine. That is it's value. The time and effore of the people involved to create something this complex in the memory and image of past glories to bring them into the twenty first century.
