View Full Version : I owned them all...

A few days ago, in my Literature class, the teacher said something. She said, that the day after, there is going to be an essay competition... Ok, no big deal, BUT FOR SOME REASON, I RAISED MY HAND, when she asked for volunteers... Oops...
Oh, well, it wasn't all bad. I got a free day, plus, a candy bar during while I was writing. Yay.
Anyway, the competition was for 8-th and 9-th graders, which are 14 and 15 year olds in this country.
I wrote on the theme "My plan's for the future". There were 10 themes to choose from and they all sucked terribly, so I took the lesser evil.
The essay itself was near-equally distributed in three parts: One page of me saying that I don't know what my plans for the future are, three-quarters of a page recalling my childhood plans-for-the-future and another page of pointless, philosophical crap thrown in the mix.
I myself thought that the whole thing was mediocre and kind of... rough...
Imagine my surprise when I was told I HAD WON. Oops...
The Eigth and Ninth grades had seperate winners, but my teacher told me that my work was still the best of the whole bunch.
The competition was only centralized on the island I live on, it has maybe... around 11,000 inhabitants. The competition itself had about 20 partakers.
And it looks like I'm also going to be in the island-newspaper.
Well... Go me.

Don't be foolish Lemming, I translated it into English.
Besides, grammatical errors didn't matter anyway.
Sadly, I can't gloat much to the losers, as about 3/4-ths of them don't live anywhere near me and the chances I'll meet them again and remember them are low.

Wait, are you saying that English isn't your first language? I never would have guessed--your English is very good. Also, congratulations on your essay!

I believe he is Dutch or Norweigan.
EDIT: Good job, Carlos. Is there any chance of you sending it to me over MSN?

Way off ATL. I'm Estonian.
And sending it to you would require a difficult, and boring, process of translating it and typing it in the computer.

Kingcrazygenius
11-10-04, 02:11 PM
And that is why your idiotic Texan mind is yet to notice our ingenious plans for UNVERSAL domination. That is why we are performing our secret operations in Texas, because you Texans see us playing with high powered explosives and think to yourselfs: "Gee, the must be makin' some type of super-chili to kill off them danged Mexicans".
That's a terrible idea for a TV show, even for you.
