You see I got a reply back from a poetry contest I entered long ago. They want me to submit another poem with 24 lines or less that will be excepted into there book. I want to submit a really good one so here are a few I have and I hope to come up with a few more in say a weeks time... hoping to anyway

*remembers telling self he should of wrote more poetry*

Joys of Life

When the morning comes let the warm rays of the sun flood your being,
and feel the splendor that carved this world into being,
take in its beauty and the majesty, capture it for all time,
for life is a fleeting moment that only comes once,
do not let it pass by unnoticed, hold on to it for a moment
and share this moment with someone you love,
so that it is captured in two hearts, united as one

Look upon the starry night with a curiosity born of a child's heart,
wonder how this great universe came into existence
and ponder, for a moment, all the questions creation offers
and thank those stars that you live upon one of those rare planets
that lets the miracle of life flourish and thrive

I Am
My heart weighs heavily on my mind
Deep inside, concealed, I hide
Outside myself a shell
Inside of me a kind of hell

Who Am I?

Rocker, Musician, Magician?

Who Am I?

I am not who I am
But then who am I?

Artist, Painter, Print Maker?

A feeling inside begs for something
My soul searches for that thing
To make me feel like who I am
To myself I want to make amends

Inside, Outside, a lie?

No! A spark in me burns
A flame inside of me yearns
To find, to learn
To see inside

Am I?

A being, a person. I Am
My feelings, emotions, experiences
My interest, cares, worries
A part of me, inside of me

I am.
cherish that around you, and life's boundless mysteries
for you have but a drop of time to do so

Look upon those around you that have loved you,
those that have made these miracles of life worth sharing
and open your eyes to ones you've never noticed
look into your heart and find there smiling faces
let them know what joys they have brought you
for even the sun must one day grown dim
as the soul must one day move on to the next life

Broken Ideal

Posture upright, shirt pressed, Collar down
Ready to present myself,

Works of Love,
Items of Joy,
Things of Passion,
-My deeds gathered

In front of three I stand.
Sweat dripping.
To show how serious I am.

I spin words in an elaborate dance
Showcasing the knowledge that I keep
and slowly suffocate...

Sparkling words,
Wondrous presentation...

I feel - lost
My ideals forgotten.

something I am working on..

Life is something
that cannot be touched
each existance
part of a dance
that speaks of hope
sometimes forgotten
its every movement
a story unfolding
about a marical(sp)
sometimes neglected
each and every voice
part of a song
that has no end

Have I taught you NOTHING!!! These poems are completely neglected of true fire or passion. Come on, in the last poem I understand it is free verse, but in free verse there should be no word wasted. There are plenty of words there, which can be replaced by words that express feelings more eloquently. Don't just scribble things down and don't think about your poem when you are writing. You need to scream. There is a great poet inside of you Nio, I have seen it and I believe you could be great. This is not your best work and I have seen some of your work. Come on just write. Don't think,, just write. Forget everything and bring out your true soul. One of your poems deals with a broken heart. I also saw one dealing with love. You need to get your feelings out. They don't really look like work, but the blue prints of work. Get back to work and write this poem immediately while it is still fresh in your head.

Sorry bullroarer I just haven't had the time to devote to something like I would want to. You can call it the effects of crunched scheduling. I always seemed trapped in some kind of cituation when something has been sparked.

I am trying to get myself just to sit down so I can make another one. It migth take me a few times though

that and I am pulling double duty for my art (2-d). Which is coming along well.

What do you do when seem to be running around so much more mind seems to melt

Draw upon that frustration. That feeling of being closed in and overworked. Use that to write your next poem. Poetry does not take a long time nor does it happen in split seconds. It happens when you let emotion take over. Right now you are trying to fight the frustration. Just let it overwhelm you and express it onto paper.
