Now that wiii.net is dead, I hope the community will understand that we NEED its support. In an ideal world, nobody would have to worry about paying bills, but we live in a world where websites die because of a lack of financial support.
Rush has been paying the site's maintenance from his own pocket, he said he wouldnt be able to keep it that way for long, we know what happened...
Sure you wont become a shareholder by donating 10 bucks, but at least you will know that you did your part, and you have our most grateful thanks for that. Clicking a couple of times on the banned is a good thing too, dont overdo it as I think it wont be recorded more than a couple of times in 24 hours (but im sure rush will correct me on it).
Hope the message gets thru, as it would kill me to see us lose another site and a huge chunk of our population.
Thx for reading me.
Serving the community,
Hiro.

I have a question, Hiro; what exactly is the procedure for donating money? I could probably pry my greedy mitts off a bit of cash for my fave forums, if only I knew how to get it to you. And I'm sure I'm not the only one in this situation, "so help us help you*"

paypal, rush is fixing it or so he said. Otherwise banners will do, a couple of clicks everytime you visit us (I click when I first enter, then when im about to leave) also make sure to let the windows load.

Forgive me, but I've got another question; do debit cards work with Pay Pal, or does it only take credit? If debits work, count me in; if not, please accept my apologies.

HiroHito,
About supporting the site, is there any other way Besides PayPal to donate to you guys? I have never used a service like that and am not really comfortable doing so. I did check their site though and started to sign up for an account but I am over cautious when it comes to giving that type of information. I would be more than willing to donate though.
I enjoy the forums here and would like to see this site around with it's current staff and community. I realize that for this to be the case someone has to help a little here and there.
Let me know if there is any other way please.
DB
Hey, I had no idea banner clicking actually made money for you guys... I'll definitely take your suggestion and do it when I arrive and when I leave. Good luck and a big thanks for everything. Maybe when I have money I'll cough up a few bucks.

I would be prepared to support the site, but I have only managed to download one map so far - and when I have five failed attempts it wont let me try any more. Until I can see that it is possible to get more than 1 in 10 maps, I can't justify giving anything.
u realise that if u did donate u wud get access to more DLs per day? they had to cut down the max DLs per person per day coz it was using too much bandwidth (i think). if u were here a few months ago u wudda been able to DL as much as u wanted

I think i speak for everyone when i say ROCK ON* however for those of us who want to support but lack a bank account for age or w/e reasons mabye money can be sent to an address via the post. Alot more people would be able to donate. Many parents and guardians and people are cautious with giving out information and rightly so. Mabye we can send rush cash.
To the Guy who asked if banners give you money: if i am not mistaken only registered webmasters (like Rush) get cash. They host a site and whoever goes to their site and clicks they get money from whoever the link is by. Pay per click. This is how google makes so much if you look on the right hand side of search pages.

Okay, i think that if do you need money, start some marketing, rent banners and add pay links. I believe that you could also put some kind of members area, to who pays for use the site.
Maybe that way those download map links works* I pay to see. If these links works, nothing else matters.
lol, i think they have all of that anyway, minus the members lounge.
I'm going to pay for the bandwidth cost of everything I downloaded from here by clicking on the banners enough times to equal it all out. *clicks once*
Wow, according to TRUE you can get up to 5 years in prison/a $250,000 fine if you're married and posing as single. I'm glad I clicked that ad, I could have just prevented future jail time*

Heck, in my opinion, it would have helped to know this BEFORE the site was DELETED. And still, barely a thread in the community forum? If simple FORUMS are on the brink of distruction, there's more advertising for the need for money than this. Where's the notifications in the other forums? I'm sure not everybody checks the community forum. Not to mention this fact isn't even posted on the website's NEWS.
But still, if I donated, it'd be nice to have the actual website back.
I don't even see banners, else I'd click on them. Must be something on my computer doing that. :/

I've been clicking on ads anyway - except that one with the stupid bitch on the thing who starts talking to you when you hover over it, they have ads like that on hotmail too now, except they make glass-smashing sounds when you hover over them... people who make those sorts of ads REALLY anoy me, like the damn ones which try to disguise themselves as error windows or whatever, and the fake 'YOU WIN' ones... the people who make those ones should be shot. hmm, reminds me, there was some guy down here I think, he was soome4 moron who was handling spam-emails, someone found out and told the public who it was, he started getting bombarded with prank calls, threats, people egging/TPing his house, serves the idiot right...
ok, i'm rambling, i'll just keep clicking banners :D

Your player journals don't work - in fact, they promote the waste of thousands of words by pretending to work, and then deleting the work of hours without so much as an error message. Your strategy section is down and before it was you had people talking about how the speed of boots and the circuit of nobility were uber when used together. Rush, or Rushster, or whoever, is far more interested in the not yet existant WoW and some other random junk and actually posts about competitions and raffles completely unrelated to WarIII. Pretty much all of his other news comes directly off Blizzards site. The only thing that does seem to work are these forums, which have always been in my opinion the tool of someone who likes being angry at things. So, here I am, being angry at things. You want the site to make money? Fix the site! Heck, I'd donate money if all the features I wanted here were actually present.
Completely off-topic, I hate Rush with the fire of a thousand suns. Nothing personal, I just do.
So go ahead, give money here, be angry at things. Me, even. I'm just not going to be around to give witty retorts, unless something gets fixed. And I doubt that there will be many of us left to click banners in the desperate hope that somebody will DO SOMETHING with this site.

My god, seriously, how can you go as low as to talk like that about someone who provieds a >>>>FREE<<<< service, if someone offers you something for free you either take it or not, you don't go giving them feed back about how **** it is.
1- the journals - ok, I don't use them, maybe they stuffed up once, who knows, but who cares, thats technology, things DO not work sometimes
2-boots of speed+circlet of nobility - seriously, who gives a screw what people are talking about, you don't like it, go play on battle.net forums or whatever.
3- who gives a damn what hes more interested in, ****, having these forums going is more than I ask for
4- the site is half broken BECAUSE IT DOESN'T HAVE MONEY - you can't just fix something with no resources, how old are you, 5? have any clue what so ever about economics etc??
5- why? because they have gone out of their way to provide something free to you?

My god, seriously, how can you go as low as to talk like that about someone who provieds a >>>>FREE<<<< service, if someone offers you something for free you either take it or not, you don't go giving them feed back about how **** it is.
First, they're asking for money. Second, feedback is GOOD. The reason people aren't paying them is because nothing works. Simple facts. However, to take it to the forum requires a good deal of anger, and I happily have that.
1- the journals - ok, I don't use them, maybe they stuffed up once, who knows, but who cares, thats technology, things DO not work sometimes
No, that's not technology. Things sometimes fail, admittedly. But the Player Journals DO NOT WORK at all, haven't for months, didn't for months before. I got one good rant in on em after the site crashed over a twelve month period. And they have always, always deleted things that are on the box for more than ten minutes. If they ran like this forum, they'd work, but instead they run on something barely even usable.
2-boots of speed+circlet of nobility - seriously, who gives a screw what people are talking about, you don't like it, go play on battle.net forums or whatever.
This is the WarCraft III Strategy Site, which has been abandoned by all useful forms of moderators and is now open to the kind of crap you FIND in forums. It used to be quality, something I'd gladly pay and click on banners for.
3- who gives a damn what hes more interested in, ****, having these forums going is more than I ask for
I can't argue the incoherent.
4- the site is half broken BECAUSE IT DOESN'T HAVE MONEY - you can't just fix something with no resources, how old are you, 5? have any clue what so ever about economics etc??
It just so happens I do have a clue about economics, in addition to such things as grammar and spelling. If you build a good product, people buy it. To program the code for a site and fix the code for a site does not require money, it requires time. Invest the time, get the money.
5- why? because they have gone out of their way to provide something free to you?
Asking. For. Money.
I mean, for god sake, how can you be such a ignorant, shallow, ungrateful moron? If you don't like what has been given to you then go bugger off and pester someone else.
But it's so much fun pestering YOU!
It disgusts me to be of the same species as you.
Thankfully, you aren't.
I click a banner every now and again, but only when I visit the site. And I only visit the site when I have something to say, and a place to say it. The forums don't general provide that to me - I'm kinda long-winded, and I hate stupid people. I prefer the strategy section, or the player journals, both of which are broken. Therefore, while disjuku has so kindly coaxed me into another five cent donation, I am leaving this site unless something gets fixed.
Disjuku - Since you're rather focused on the personal attacks, why don't you take further responses outside this thread so we can argue about it? Honosty, what the hell? I didn't say anything to be nasty, I'm saying it because what you said was nothing but a rant about how crap something was when you could just turn away and never look at it again.
First, they're asking for money. Second, feedback is GOOD. The reason people aren't paying them is because nothing works. Simple facts. However, to take it to the forum requires a good deal of anger, and I happily have that.
They are asking that if you can, donate, its not a payment - its optional. Feedback is good, what you said is not - if you wanted to give feed back you would say 'the journals dont seem to be working, and I think people are not donating because things don't work' - if that is what you intended on doing, then try to keep it under controll next time.
No, that's not technology. Things sometimes fail, admittedly. But the Player Journals DO NOT WORK at all, haven't for months, didn't for months before. Ah, good. Ok, there are a few facts that need to be cleared up here, and these are the important ones, the staple arguments if you will.
Firstly, the Player Journals don't work. You can't post in them. You can try, but you'll be wasting words. Even trying to view them can lead to a barrage of broken links, not that anyone has interest in PJ's posted months before.
Secondly, the Strategy section is gone. This is something that a lot of people really loved, and I don't know whether it will be back or not, but keep in mind that neither of these things work.
Thirdly, this site has enough bandwidth and space to support the thousands of old Player Journals, in addition to a gigantic amount of maps, a huge collection of strategies, good and bad, and a really friggin big forum. It's not a matter of space that has broken this site, and therefore it can be fixed by manly means. This is my big request - DO SO. I have the right to ask of you something in return for whatever banners I click or cash I donate. It's an objectivist perspective, a capitalist one, but certainly not incorrect and most definetely pragmatic.
WarIII is now narrowcasting to two specific groups - forum junkies and map hounds. Don't worry, I'll have derogatory names for the other groups when they reappear. As a result of this narrowcasting, they're losing good players to other sites, or just from sheer frustration. I am, in some forms, one of them. However, since I just can't seem to tear myself away from a site that showed so much promise, I feel it important to try and clarify why it is that they lose these people.
I know I once attracted people to this site through my Player Journals, I have gotten E-mails from people who found this site by hearing about it from a friend who liked my work. But I haven't done it for a year now, because I never got a second chance after the journals crashed. So this is not just an argumentation against the imbecility of Mr. Visjuku, it is also a request - make the site something worth paying for.
But, moving back to Mr. Visjuku:
I mean, for god sake, how can you be such a ignorant, shallow, ungrateful moron? If you don't like what has been given to you then go bugger off and pester someone else.
It disgusts me to be of the same species as you.
Honosty, what the hell? I didn't say anything to be nasty
I will happily state that I think you are one of the most disgustingly shallow people I have ever met.
I love this contradiction.
Sure, I'm shallow, most likely ungrateful, although most certainly not a moron, to which I can get others to testify. I'm also a chicken, but tis more a matter of race than personality. Despite all that, it doesn't change the facts that I am RIGHT.
That was the most fun I've had here in months, which is just an example of why there needs to be some fixin done here! Visjuku, if you wish to refute, I again ask you to take it outside to another thread, off-topic - it really doesn't belong here anymore. We can talk of objectivism, it'll be fun!

Firstly, the Player Journals don't work. You can't post in them. You can try, but you'll be wasting words. Even trying to view them can lead to a barrage of broken links, not that anyone has interest in PJ's posted months before.
Yes, I have already gathered that they are not working, the point is that you shouldn't go on like you were about that, if you paid for them, then sure, get ****ty, but you didn't, so just accept that free things are usually not the best things.
Bandwidth and storage space are different things - bandwidth is how much data you can send/recieve. So they obviously have quite a bit of storage space - but when you think about how many people download the maps from thsi site etc then its no wonder the bandwidth suffers. I just remembered that a while ago they were asking for old replays etc to be deleted due to using up too much space too, so space is obviously a problem too. As for your clicking on banners - good, but obviously not enough people are clicking/people clicking enough for it to do anything. What you get through doing so though is the forums/maps section/whatever else is working.
You seem to be under the impression that rush/whoever can just sit down for an hour and make all the problems go away, they can't.
Ok, you say this site used to be good, then you say that now it isn't any good because of lack of donations - if what you say is true then why did it degrade in the first place?
I love this contradiction.
Honosty, what the hell? I didn't say anything to be nastyYou accused me of posting the entire thread with the sole prupose of being nasty to someone, that is not the case, as I stated.
Sure, I'm shallow, most likely ungrateful, although most certainly not a moron, to which I can get others to testify. I'm also a chicken, but tis more a matter of race than personality. Despite all that, it doesn't change the facts that I am RIGHT.
Who cares if you are right, its the manner in which you go about it and convey your opinion which is wrong. I seriously doubt that you know many of the underlying things which are going on, you are making assumptions given that your journal doesn't work.
That was the most fun I've had here in months, which is just an example of why there needs to be some fixin done here! Visjuku, if you wish to refute, I again ask you to take it outside to another thread, off-topic - it really doesn't belong here anymore. We can talk of objectivism, it'll be fun!

Reading this thread with interest.
First of all the Warcraft III site was shut down, simple as that. We kept 2 sections online, the forums because everyone here wanted them to stay and the maps section to provide the vibrant mapping community on the site with an outlet. Nothing was broken, we closed them and that was the announcement we made at the time. Why were they closed? Simple, we didn't get enough support to fund the site any longer. End of story.
LocoPojo, I have no idea who you are but you obviously feel you know me enough to hate me with a vengeance however, now that I have come across you, read your well-researched commentary in this thread I'm at least able to decide whether we should continue extending a membership to our services.
Aren't you the precious one. Really, when complaining it's best to research the facts first, get 'em all straight in your own head before posting. It's not much effort and wouldn't have taken you long. It's just a sloppy effort otherwise.
Silly billy.
B'bye now. :y-thumbsu

May I be so bold as to make 2 recommendations.
1: If Map Makers mention this site in future maps, and the Map gains some interest - then it will increase the users of the site, and the chance of banners being used. I try and help out as much as I can in the Map Making forum, and there are plenty of people giving it a go. I would suggest the guru's that help most should add to their signature a little "Please Mention this Site in your Map if we have helped you so we may help others" type thing.
2: Please get the "Suggestions" bit working. It may be full of gripes, but at least you can prioritise where to spend your time. I have faced a few problems, and as a new user I have had no-where to turn for help. It's only after sticking with the site that I have learnt that everyone lives with the same problems.
This is an Excellent Site - I would miss it - I will fight for it.

Now, let me see... I been at this site for a year or so. I am under 18 and don't have a credit card. This site is "Teh b0mb r0xxing Warcraft III site tat iz teh bester tahn teh 1337... well n-e-thing." But I have some suggestions for this site:
Sug. A- Kill the files section, it never was really used.
Sug. B- Create a map-deleting system based upon the "Neighborhood Dictator's" guidelines.
Sug. C- DeStRoY the old and/or sucky and/or pointless threads that don't belong in a that particular forum.
I would help if I had good money that I would never use along with a credit card.

We kept the sections people wanted and that was mainly the maps site which is still buzzing with activity :)
I can't click on the banners. They are not there, and if I click on their position I get linked to a "Page not Found".
Hey, the banner just worked, and I won a free 8 day vacation to florida! Lucky me!
I would love paying for this site but since I'm only 12 I can do even less then the guy which were 15 :y-thumbsd

I've mentioned this website in my maps, ever since I found this site. (Which was my very first map.)

It's been years, many years, since LocoPojo posted on this site... and looking back at myself through the Google search engine I found this particular thread and took a look at it. My only reaction upon reading the argument that was initiated therein was "Chee! Was I a jerk!". I am not one to engage in forums save for exceptionally rare cases, and of the few that I have participated in this one brings me the greatest shame. In short, I apologize profusely for the argument I initiated. I was clearly angry about something that really had very little to do with this thread and I overreacted with the most pseudo-eloquent idiocy I could muster in a place that didn't want to hear it for obvious reasons. Sorry? Much.
I don't know much about the site as it is right now, but if it still needs support? Give it. It was a great place for me once, and it looks like it's only gotten better.
-LocoPojo Out.
It seems to be getting better, somewhat, but its golden age days are gone..
I seem to remember you. O_o

Well support is always welcome.
As it is at the moment, you can read the news annoucement for more details.
It would fill in a bit more about where we are heading with this forum throughout this year.
